Educational Offerings

MAG and GCPA partner to offer seminars and workshops

Since 2003, the Masonry Association of Georgia and the Georgia Concrete and Products Association have been offering joint seminars for masonry design, construction, and testing firms. Testing and construction inspection are two areas requiring high competency levels to meet the new International Building Code requirements, and we are preparing our industry for it. Architects and engineers get continuing education credit, and CEU's are available for your company's in-house education program. The two seminars available are:

Masonry Testing Technician Certification

If you are a contractor, engineer, or technician involved in testing of grout, mortar, masonry units or masonry assemblies, this one-day course will prepare you to do the basic tests correctly. We all know the high cost of incorrect testing, and everyone should attend this course.

Masonry Construction Inspector Certification

This two-day course covers the ICC/530 Codes and Specifications for construction, the ASTM standards for testing and materials, reinforcing and flashing details, and other important information you need to know to build masonry structures correctly. Designers hear how to correctly detail masonry walls, and contractors learn why those important details are necessary. If you've ever been called back later to a project because of a leaky wall, you need to attend this workshop.
